At the beginning of the new year, I started listening to KLove Christian Radio. Initially, I was looking for some new music to color my long and boring commute - an hour each way, stop and go. Yuck. But turns out it is truly inspiring and fun to listen to. One of the challenges they are doing is this "My One Word" resolution experiment based on this idea. Basically, you pick a single word for the year and make it your focus. Commit to one word instead of many resolutions.
At first, I didn't really give it any thought. How could I pick a single word to focus on for an entire year? I usually keep in the back of my mind a bunch of little resolutions that after a month or so never really get done. The other day one of the KLove DJs said his word was discipline. Perfect. That was my word. Discipline. All these little half-resolutions I keep in my mind are not realistic at all, unless I apply some discipline. I have so many goals I want to accomplish, so many things I want to do, but lately have felt lazy, unmotivated, and well, undisciplined. So this is my word to live by this year. Hopefully it will help me accomplish some of the things I've been wanting to do and stay focused on what is important in life. What are your resolutions? If you could choose a word, what would it be?
