Back to it

Well hello there! I've been a little MIA this week, but for good reason! My husband is home! We've been catching up and getting reacquainted. He will be home for a couple months until his January rotation in either Shelton or Pendleton (again). I'm a happy girl once again. :)

Zagapalooza was awesome! We had so much fun reliving our college days and catching up. My favorite part was "Kraziness in the Kennel" which was the first time since I graduated that I've been back in the arena to watch some basketball. It was awesome watching the scrimmage and now I'm super excited for basketball season to start! GO ZAGS!

Well, I just wanted to check in and say hi! I'm hoping to catch up on some projects this weekend, so hopefully I'll be able to share with you next week!

What are you up to this weekend?

Finally... Geez!

Usually I'm a little behind the times. I will admit I'm no trendsetter, but I like to be on trend. Does that make sense? Well anyways, I finally hopped on two bandwagons this week. One: Colored Denim. Two: Hunter Boots.

I got two pairs of colored skinny jeans (and I almost got some colored cords... still thinking on them) - one mustard yellow and one bright blue. I LOVE them! I literally did not want to take them off to pay they were so comfy! I got these ones and these ones from The Limited (one of my favs). Best part - they were buy one/get one 50% off! Woot!

And the Hunters. I've always loved my rain boots. I've gone through a few pairs through the years (from Target) in fun colors and patterns, but after a season the heels usually blow out and the rubber gets weak.  Now I'm excited to check out these supposedly awesome boots and see if they really are as tough as people say they are (all 1,500+ positive reviews!). I ordered them yesterday so we'll see how I like them!

Just thought I'd share! What are your favorite pieces for Fall?

Cinderella Pumpkins

Have you heard of these?! Cinderella Pumpkins! They were selling them at Albertson's near Poulsbo last weekend and I couldn't resist (the white one and the deep orange one on the right are the Cinderellas)! They are super dense and heavy and have the cutest shape. I lurrrrve the white one and can't decide if I want to carve it or not. She's just so pretty (someone get her a glass slipper!). I know these aren't anything new, but apparently I didn't know they existed. They are so decorative and fun!

Did you buy your pumpkins yet? Did you go to the pumpkin patch or get them at the grocery store like us? Are you planning on going all out with the carving? We have a little tradition in our house to carve something different each year (remember my power drill pumpkin last year?). Let's talk pumpkins!

Have a great weekend!

Happy Weekend!

It's definitely feeling like Fall here in Seattle! Gotta love those crisp mornings. Although, by afternoon it is still in the high 60s-70s (is it really October?!). I'm not complaining. I have had to pull out my plethora of winter jackets though (apparently I have a lot according to my work peeps - shhh, don't tell Zach!).

What are you up to this weekend? I'm heading over to Poulsbo to see the husband and the in-laws (fear not - I love my in-laws!). You're probably tired of hearing this by now, but I really miss my hubby (boo-hoo, whaaa whaaa, I know) so I'm super excited!! I'm not sure what will be on the agenda, but I'm looking forward to having some yummy food and just chilling (with a little bit of football, of course).

Hope you have a great fall weekend!

PS Are you as excited for this as we are (here, too)? I mean, we did name our first (furry) born son after one of the characters...

Happy Weekend!

Hello and Happy Friday! What are you up to this weekend? We are having a family-filled weekend - dinner with Zach's family tonight (his grandmother is in town) and the rest of the weekend with my family to celebrate my Mama's birthday! Happy (early) Birthday Mama (it's on Sunday)!

Whatever you do this weekend, I hope it's filled with football, colorful leaves, and pumpkin spice lattes! Bring on fall!

Power Drills, Polka Dots, and Pumpkins

In a nutshell, that just about sums up our pumpkin carving adventures from last night. We went over to my sister-in-law, Katelyn's, apartment for some delicious dinner and picked up some pumpkins on the way.

After taking out all the guts, I couldn't decide on a design for my pumpkin (I wanted to do something different than usual) until I came across this inspiration on Pinterest.

Martha, you get me every time. I couldn't resist the fun polka dots (they are my favorite) and decided to wait until I got home to break out my power drill. The hubby and sister-in-law got right to it though. Check out their sweet pumpkins.

I especially liked the mister's pumpkin (the one on the left) straight out of Nightmare Before Christmas.

After getting home and making some Pumpkin Bars (recipe to follow soon!) I whipped out my drill and started drilling. It was actually pretty fun! A little messy, but very exhilarating.

I'm definitely happy with the result! Look how it shines and sparkles. So much fun.

I was so excited to put them out on our front porch. We might even get some trick-or-treat-ers this year since we are in a house in a neighborhood!

Happy Halloween!

Pumpkin Oatmeal Cookies (w/White Chocolate Chips)

The weather is definitely changing and lately I've been having a craving for all things pumpkin. I found this recipe on Pinterest and these cookies are quickly becoming one of my new favorites. So chewy and delicious and pumpkin-y. Yum. I took some to work and two different people said they were the best cookies they've ever had! Here's the recipe (from My Baking Addiction):

//350 degrees // 12-14 minutes // makes 48 //

Ingredients
2 cups all purpose flour
1 1/2 cups oats
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 1/2 teaspoons cinnamon
1 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup (2 sticks) butter, softened
1 cup packed light brown sugar
1 cup white sugar
1 cup pure pumpkin puree
1 large egg
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup white chocolate chips

Directions
1. Preheat oven and line cookie sheet with parchment paper (I had never used parchment paper before, but it worked great!)
2. Combine flour, oats, baking soda, cinnamon, pumpkin pie spice, and salt in a separate bowl.
3. Beat butter, brown sugar and white sugar until light and fluffy.
3. Add pumpkin, egg and vanilla extract. Combine with flour mixture.
4. Stir in white chocolate chips.
5. Drop on to cookie sheet in rounded balls.
6. Bake 12-14 minutes or until lightly browned.

And here's some more pictures just because I like to take pictures of cookies.

Happy (October) Weekend!

I can't believe tomorrow is already October! But I am super excited. I love fall. And I'm ready to embrace it. I'm cleaning and cooking tonight and then we have both sets of in laws coming over tomorrow for a BBQ/games shindig. It can get pretty crazy when the Boehmes and the Kanes get together. I'm so glad I love my family. :)

What are your plans for the weekend? Anything exciting? Any fun fall festivities? (say that ten times fast)

Fall + Mom

Happy First Day of Fall! And also, Happy Birthday to my lovely Mother!

We just spent a year's worth of summer down in Arizona so now I am ready for fall. So ready. Bring it on! Bring on the colored leaves, the crisp mornings, the pumpkin spice lattes, the boots and jackets and mittens, and most importantly, the football!

Speaking of football... my baby brother's German Football Team (the Unicorns) has their semi-final game on Saturday, and if they win - on to the German Super Bowl!!! How awesome would that be?! Supremely awesome.

Are you excited for fall? Wishing for more sun or excited to curl up with some hot cocoa on the couch?

The Leaves, They are a Changin'

Did everyone have a good weekend? Doesn't it feel like fall? I love it. I went out Friday after work and got some new boots. I think I wore them all weekend. Love love love that I can wear boots again! Oh, and I also brought out the Uggs. It's getting a little chilly out there!

We had a fun weekend - family dinner on Friday night (always loud and crazy - in a good way), haircut and date night Saturday, church and lots of sewing Sunday! The hubs took me out to this Indian food restaurant called Naan N Curry and then to see the movie Drive (with Ryan Gosling). It was good and different, but definitely a lot more graphic than I thought it would be. Lots of blood.

I had a little fight with my sewing machine while trying to make some pillowcases yesterday, but we worked it out. More on that later this week, as well as how to make pillows!

Oh! And we also got Direct TV installed yesterday. Husband is happy to have his NFL Sunday Ticket, and I'm happy I could watch the Emmy's with DVR(!) last night. Now I can start watching HGTV again! DVR is so nice.

Hope ya'll have a great week! Can't wait to share some more projects if I can stop being lazy and go through the pics. :)
