GO HAWKS!

I remember when I was little my dad took my brother and me to a Seahawks game. It was back in the Kingdome days and it was awesome. That game was the only Hawks game we went to until they built the new stadium, and the only thing I can remember about the game was how LOUD it was. Even back then, the 12th man was present. I don't remember what year it was. I don't remember who we played. I don't remember if we won or lost. What I DO remember is the noise. The blatant, ear-deafening, crazy, get-off-your-seats NOISE. It was amazing (although I'm pretty sure I didn't fully appreciate it at the time).

Fast forward 15-20 years (holy cow, I'm kind of freaked out I can say that about anything)... the Seahawks are at their peak and it is still CRAZY LOUD. More like ridiculously loud. Teams don't want to play at our house. We move the earth, thank you very much (Beast Quake, anyone?). We have the best defense in the league (Legion of BOOM!) and our coach is a fun guy to boot. Oh, and don't forget that our QB is Russell Wilson. Enough Said.

The past few weeks I've been Hawk-crazy (like almost every Seattleite around these parts) and I've been getting so into the hype and excitement of the big game. I've been reading tons of articles, stalking following the players instagram feeds, watching sportscenter and fox sports one (well, these were always on, but now I just pay attention), even listening to sports talk on the radio. I've become a little obsessed, and it is so much fun. 

I love my Hawks! So. Freaking (stop freakin' call beacon! - Marshawn Lynch). Much. This season has been AMAZING. I got to go to a couple games and the atmosphere in the stadium, especially this year, is unreal. It makes me so proud to be part of this awesome 12th man community. We love our players, every one of them. Whether they talk "too much" in an interview (which, in my opinion, was great - definitely more "classy" than a certain Canadian teenager these days...), or don't want to talk at all, Boss, they are all awesome. Not just the individual players, either. The whole team is awesome. They have each others backs. They win games together. And they love their 12th man. We are with them every game and definitely will be there in New York!

I know my Hawks can do it! We are there to win it all and this time we WILL! We have to because if not my heart just might break in to a million pieces. I kind of feel like a little kid on Christmas Eve. I don't think I'll be able to sleep tonight! LET'S GO HAWKS! We are with you! Let's bring the BEASTMODE, the LEGION OF BOOM, the 12TH MAN!!! We got this!

Happy Labor Day Weekend!

Oh man, this has been a long (yet quick) week. Does that make sense? Work is picking up for the 9/15 deadline. Zachary is back from Pendleton, but it's still an adjustment going from single mama for a month to having the family back together. I love having him back but change is always hard. 

What are you doing for this long weekend? We are going camping with the in-laws and I'm super excited! We're taking the pups and it should be a nice relaxing weekend full of campfires and smores, long walks, and plenty of pinnacle. Sunday/Monday we are also heading to my parents house to see my aunt and uncle! I haven't seen them forever so it will be really nice. 

My baby brother also has his first football game as Quarterback Coach for the Linfield Wildcats! Go Dude!

Are you excited for football season like the entire Boehme/Kane family is?!?!?! GO HAWKS! GO CATS! GO ZAGS! GO DUCKS!

German Bowl Champions!

Yesterday my brother's team (the Unicorns) won the German Bowl!! How AWESOME is that?!?

GO UNICORNS!!!

After trying (unsuccessfully) to get the game feed online, we were finally able to at least get a play by play stats update from the German Football League website. It was good, but frustrating since it was such a close game and the website wouldn't update at times. It was also frustrating when we couldn't tell how much time was left at the end of the game! It was killing us! But, the outcome was good great so I guess we can't complain. Just a small heart attack in the process. :)

Final score: 48-44 (see final game stats here or here). The Unicorns got their first German Bowl win and extended their undefeated season to 16-0 in front of 11,711 fans! Here's a video of my bro hurdling a player on the game winning drive, some fireworks after the game, and an article on the big win (make sure to translate to English!).

Buster Has Spirit

Do you know what today is? The first day of football season! This is by far the Kane household's favorite season, and we are so glad to be back in Seattle cheering on our favorite team! Even BBoy is getting his teen spirit on in his new Seahawks jersey.

Isn't he a cutie?! We had to make him sit down for the picture. As you can see, the jersey is a little tight for his big barrel chest! He just stood there all awkward like he couldn't move his front two legs. Poor guy... his silly parents are quickly becoming "those" dog people. Haha.

At least this is one jersey that won't have to be replaced because another player leaves!

Unicorns Win!

You might remember that my baby brother, Aaron, is over in Germany playing football in the German Football League (he's kind of a big deal). He plays quarterback for the Schwäbisch Hall Unicorns and they had their first official league game today. They played the Berlin Eagles and won 34-17! Dude threw for three touchdowns! Auf Wiedersehen!

This morning my baby brother leaves for Germany. He got the amazing opportunity to go overseas and play football for the Schwabisch Hall Unicorns (see more on that here). That's right, I said Unicorns. A very manly mascot for football. You can see the article on my brother from the Unicorns website here - it's fun to read it translated from German to English.

I am so excited that my brother gets to have such an amazing experience. We are planning on going over there to visit in July sometime, but have yet to find a plane ticket price that we like. Hopefully prices will go down soon, but until then... save, save, save! His first game is April 16th (that's like one month away!). We're working on figuring out how to watch his games from the U.S., but it might be a bit challenging. Here's some photos of my brother from his Linfield glory days... Unicorns + Football = Awesome

I love watching football. Especially when my brother is playing. He played quarterback for the Linfield Wildcats and took them to the playoffs twice, once to the semifinals where they ended up 4th in the nation! It is so exciting watching him play (I'm kind of his biggest fan...) and I'm happy to report he gets to continue his football career playing in Germany! He's playing for the Schwabisch Hall Unicorns. (Yup, that's my bro on the front page of the website! Awesome, right?)

I am really excited for him because he can continue to do what he loves and gets to see the world while getting paid for it. Aaaaaaaaaaand... this means I can finally go back to Europe! 

I spent a summer abroad in Italy my Junior year of college at GU (Go Zags!), and ever since I have wanted to go back (See my Italy Blog here). And I especially want to go with the hubby. He's never been and I just think it is so romantic going over there are seeing all the sites with the one you love. (Don't worry, no more mushy-ness)

I want to see more castles!

And drink more beer here!

Anywho, if we do go to Germany this summer (yay for the spending diet), this will be my third time trying to get back over there since I went in 2005. (Thrice!) The first time, I was planning to go to Europe with some friends after I got done with school. Well, the hubby (then boyfriend) had to go and ruin that trip by proposing to me one week after I bought my plane ticket (at a ridiculously low price) and decided that he wanted to get married that summer. Well, I can't say I regret the decision to get married. Best one of my life. (Ok, I lied about the mushy factor). Here's a pic from our amazingly sunny Seattle wedding day:

The second attempt was last summer. We started planning our trip, and then the hubby (there he goes again) had to go and get into med school. Well, no Europe trip for us. (We were ok with that, though!) Here's a pic of us at his official White Coat Ceremony:

Thus, here we are with probably our last chance to head over there until the hubby is out of med school (3 1/2 years to go, with no more summer breaks...) but by then who knows, we might have some wee little ones around? We'll see... but all in all this summer is the ideal time to head over to the motherland, see how the Germans play "American Football," and visit all the historic sites! Fingers crossed nothing gets in our way this summer! Oh, and GO UNICORNS!
